Monument to Leif Erikson and his alleged exploration of the American continent ~1,000 years ago. The statue was erected by the Scandinavian immigrant populations that moved to the LA area in droves during the first half of the 20th century (same reason Solvang exists) and wanted to celebrate an explorer from their homeland. It doesn't make a lot of sense though, since Erikson never came to the West Coast and this area was already populated by the Tongva and Gabrielino Tribes during that time.

Cool green space for picnics, book reading, naps, walking with your dog and other fun activities. The road can get a little noisy with attention-seeking motorists but oh well.
