A true architectural gem in Pakistan. Everything is perfectly fine with the structure. But as for maintenance, it seems that the mosque is not being maintained by a private company, instead is managed by public sector to its fate. You can clearly observed that from the condition of cleanliness etc...

An architectural gem in Pakistan. Simply marvelous. Have some small changes at hand before you go as that you may store your shoes safely.Faisal Mosque is the fifth largest mosque in the world. V beautiful mosque View of Margalla Hills is marvellous If u go there and main issue is where you keep your shoes, 5 rs per pair is the charges but if u take basket then they will charge you 100 to 150 per basket You cannot access to main hall as remain closed , don't know what if during prayer timings Glass of main hall is really dirty due to hand mouth prints of the people peeking into glass to see main hall. Overall its a good point to go

The Faisal Mosque located in Islamabad, Pakistan. It is the fifth-largest mosque in the world and the largest within South Asia, located on the foothills of Margalla Hills in Pakistan's capital city of Islamabad. Very peace place to visit. If u go there and main issue is where you keep your shoes, 5 rs per pair is the charges but if u take basket then they will charge you 100 to 150 per basket. With surrounding mountains as a backdrop, this is an amazing sight to visit. However, the grounds surrounding the area which serve as a sort of "picnic place" can be better maintained. Neat and clean family oriented place. Peaceful environment. Clean bathrooms.

Faisal Masjid is beautiful and amazing tourist attraction. It will be the 2nd largest mosque of Pakistan after completion of Grand Jamia Mosque Karachi. It is the 5th largest mosque in the world. Faisal mosque is shaped like a Bedouin tent خیمہ کی شکل, surrounded by four 260 feet (79 m) tall minarets. The design features eight-sided shell shaped sloping roofs forming a triangular worship hall which can hold 10,000 worshippers. This mosque is visible even from tall building of Rawapindi and from Islamabad Express Way. Margallah Hills National Park behind the mosque is adding more beauty. You can park vehicle in the specific parking ????️ area and can also arrange Aftaari and Sehri at grassy area in Ramazan. Prayer Halls for male and female are separate and only open at prayers timing.

A major tourist attraction in Pakistan, the mosque is a contemporary and influential piece of Islamic architecture. Construction of the mosque began in 1976 after a $28 million grant from Saudi King Faisal, whose name the mosque bears. The unconventional design by Turkish architect Vedat Dalokay was selected after an international competition. Without a typical dome, the mosque is shaped like a Bedouin tent, surrounded by four 260 feet (79 m) tall minarets. The design features eight-sided shell shaped sloping roofs forming a triangular worship hall which can hold 10,000 worshippers. Combined the structure covers an area of 33 acres (130,000 m2; 1,400,000 sq ft), the mosque dominates the landscape of Islamabad. It is situated at the north end of Faisal Avenue, putting it at the northernmost end of the city and at the foot of Margalla Hills, the westernmost foothills of the Himalayas. It is located on an elevated area of land against a picturesque backdrop of the national park. Faisal Mosque was the largest mosque in the world from 1986 until 1993 when it was overtaken by the mosques in Saudi Arabia. Faisal Mosque is now the fifth largest mosque in the world in terms of capacity.

I would say, a must visit if are in Islamabad. Mosque is right next to Margalla Hills. You can smell the fresh air. Great place to have a walk around in the evenings. Cleanliness is well maintained. You can also give a visit to the tomb of Late General Zia-ul-Haq which is in the garden area of the mosque.

With surrounding mountains as a backdrop, this is an amazing sight to visit. However, the grounds surrounding the area which serve as a sort of "picnic place" can be better maintained. In the early afternoon is a less busy time to visit but at night you can get a better experience of the energy and activities that happens here. Food and merchant vendors are everywhere to support the men, women, children and families who come to visit. To give you an idea of it's size I'm told it can accommodate over 300K worshipers. On sight is also and Islamic Studies University, Children's Library and Gift Shop with reasonably priced souvenirs including magnets for 190PKR. At the entrance you can pay a 5PKR fee to store your shoes or there is free storage prior to entering the prayer area. If you happen to walk here like I did there are a lot of local taxi's available that can take you back almost anywhere for under 1000PKR.

It's a best place to visit in Islamabad. Public transport goes there too. Bikes parking available. But try to go in off peak hours, to avoid rush. If you want to see inside of mosque, then wait there for the time of prayers. As it opens for prayers just.

ALTHOUGH IT IS ALLEGEDLY BASED off the shape of a Bedouin tent, the Faisal Mosque looks more like an interstellar space port. Employing modern architecture, higher-level geometry and a reference to the holiest site in Mecca, the Faisal Mosque is a unique confluence of Islamic inspiration across generations. Construction began on the mosque in 1976, after the late King Faisal bin Abdul-Aziz put up $120 million of his Saudi fortune to have it built in Islamabad. Although it is the 4th largest mosque on earth and covers a whopping 54,000 square feet, the mosque’s design is truly the most intriguing. I really like to pray in this masjid it somehow more enjoyable and I feel amazing, It is also a good place for side seeing which has located in the middle of Margalla Hills.

This is a good place to visit. You should visit in the morning if you want to study in the library but in the evening time if you want to enjoy the beauty of this place. But general Zia's grave in the front of mosque reminds black era of 80s and onward religious extremism in Pakistan.

Beautiful but the doors were closed I couldn't see the inside of the mosque and men were praying inside and women were outside the main door that was slightly weird???? but the mosque is surely beautiful. People hmmmm so many guys either on their own or a large crowd of young teens shouldn't be allowed there. They just make women feel uncomfortable please have some kind of check or security there to change the environment a bit because its a touristic place and people come from all over the world and this doesnt portray a beautiful imagine

The Faisal Mosque is a mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan and is the national mosque of Pakistan. Upon completion it was the largest mosque in the world and is currently the fifth largest mosque in the world and the largest in South Asia. It is located on the foothills of Margalla Hills in Islamabad. The mosque features a contemporary design consisting of eight sides of concrete shell and is inspired by a Bedouin tent. The impetus for the mosque began in 1966 when King Faisal bin Abdul-Aziz supported the initiative of the Pakistani Government to build a national mosque in Islamabad during an official visit to Pakistan. In 1969, an international competition was held in which architects from 17 countries submitted 43 proposals. The winning design was that of Turkish architect Vedat Dalokay. Forty-six acres of land were assigned for the project and the execution was assigned to Pakistani engineer and workers.Construction of the mosque began in 1976 by National Construction Limited of Pakistan, led by Azim Khan and was funded by the government of Saudi Arabia, at a cost of over 130 million Saudi riyals (approximately 120 million USD today). King Faisal bin Abdul Aziz was instrumental in the funding, and both the mosque and the road leading to it were named after him after his assassination in 1975. King Faisal bin Abdul-Aziz's successor Shah Khalid laid the foundation stone for the mosque in October 1976 and signed the construction agreement in 1978. Basic information of the mosque can be found written on the foundation stone. On 18 June 1988, the first prayer was held, although the mosque was completed in 1986. The mosque grounds along with being a building for prayer, also used to house the International Islamic University some years ago but has since relocated to a new campus in 2000. Some traditional and conservative Muslims criticised the design at first for its unconventional design and lack of a traditional dome structure.
